Welcome back, philosophers. The Stiletto Philosopher returns within a personal admission of weakness. Yes, after a month of sobriety, I fell off the wagon in a moment of weakness.
I’m going to blame the movie theater for this lapse Continue Reading »

Does anyone else think 24-hour news channels are the worst thing to happen to the world? Okay, perhaps not the world, but they can’t be a good thing. Though a great deal goes on in the world, it can be a never-ending challenge to fill up the hours with news.
You can already see the toll this has taken on the most conservative of networks.
Let me explain. The announcement by Supreme Court Justice David Souter has caused a media frenzy. It’s not the fact he wants to get back to his home; it’s the requirements President Obama has set forth for a suitable replacement.
What could Obama possibly want that is so objectionable? Does he want a Nazi? Does he want to find someone who will really stick it to religious organizations at every turn? Does he want someone whose evil ways are second only to the Antichrist himself?
Nope. He wants Continue Reading »

Addiction can be a funny thing, my fellow philosophers. To me, it seems like one of those things you can never identify until after the stranglehold of your addiction has passed. A caffeine addiction is no different.
Yes, I’m the first to admit I was a full-blown caffeine addict. Diet Coke was my drug of choice. Ahh…truly the sweet elixir that makes all life possible…
But I digress.
I used to joke about how I couldn’t start my day or get anything done until I’d had my first dose of caffeine. Though I love the smell of it, I never quite acquired the taste for coffee. Since I was just drinking Diet Coke, I never thought I could be hurting myself.
But I was.
In more ways than I could imagine… Continue Reading »

I have a confession to make: I’ve been very busy lately. I’ve been cleaning out, clearing out and rearranging my entire house. I’m just about done. During the course of this reorganization, I made a VERY important discovery.
Velveeta is NOT cheese. Actually, I’m not even sure Velveeta is real food.
Let me back up. While I was getting the terror room aka my office cleaned out, I might have let the dishes in the kitchen fall to the wayside. Y’all know where this is going, right? I think we’ve all been there…
Anyway. I have two slow cookers. In the larger one, I’d made beef stroganoff. Nothing fancy, just one of those slow cooker meals in a bag. It must have sat there for nearly Continue Reading »

Guess who’s back from floating around in the ether? Um, that would be me, in case you couldn’t figure it out.
Anyway…
I thought I’d come back with a post on something I’ve noticed lately in my own life. Sadly, it’s always my life I have to write about. Hmm…must be the pitfall of working from home.
Just so we’re all on the same page, I don’t really do so well at following doctor’s orders all the time. I mean, if it’s a medication that’s going to keep me alive then, sure, it’s not like I have a death wish. What I have trouble with are those little recommendations they like to give.
You know…like Continue Reading »
