A Vampire Valentine’s Day, part 6

Published by Dark Passenger at 7:51 pm under 13 Days of Love, Stiletto Fiction Edit This

I like a little evil with my love!

Alrighty…In our last installment, 400-yr-old Vampire Virgin Gus was trying to figure out why he wanted to date Scarlett instead of making a meal of her.  He was also reviewing their movie options and determining a slasher flick would only make him hungry.  And then…a phone rang in HELL.

But was it Scarlett or just a minion of the damned?

Untouched and Excited

(It’s not how it sounds…)

Friday, February 13th

6:57 pm

Completely oblivious to the time, Scarlett was busy dancing around her bathroom to the music playing from her iPod.  “La la la la…a-la la la la!  I feel so untouched and I want you so much.  That I just can’t resist you.  It’s not enough to say that I miss you.  I feel so untouched right now…need you so much…somehow I can’t forget you…going crazy from the moment I met you!”

The doorbell rang.  Scarlett froze.  Gus was early.  Oh please let him have not been able to hear her scream-singing the song just then.

She put the iPod away, gave herself a last look in the mirror and rushed to the door as the doorbell chimed a second time.  Opening the door she cooed, “Your early.”

“I can wait in the car for another couple of minutes and come back, if you’d prefer.”

Scarlett took in his toothy grin and felt the unconscious smile touch her own lips.  It was hard to tell if he was kidding or serious from the energy emanating off him.  Nothing from his body language gave her any clues either.  He was simply leaning against the wall just outside the door in the most casual of fashions.

In fact, she would have sworn he was one of “those” guys if their phone conversation had gone any differently.  You know, the kind of guy who faked his way through every interaction, pretending to be exactly what every woman wanted just to get her into bed.  Even the way he was dressed - jeans and a long-sleeved button-down shirt - played into the “those guys” image.  Casual to show he wasn’t trying too hard, but still nice enough to say he wasn’t a slob.

He looked like just the kind of guy she’d normally slam the door on.  Actually, his demeanor reminded her of her blood-sucking leech of an ex-husband…

Good thing every bit of their phone conversation had rung true.  No smooth operator was capable of being that nervous on the phone.  And the way he’d asked if she’d prefer to meet him at the cinema or if escorting her there would be agreeable…That was just too cute.  Normally, she probably would have met him there since she barely knew Gus, but…he put her at ease.  In world where she absorbed all of the emotions and feelings of others, he was the one person who put her at ease.

Weird.

“No, Gus…I’m ready to go.”  She collected her purse and sweater from the chair by the door.  Wednesday night had taught her that even though it might be in the 70’s now, Texas weather could turn on her in a heartbeat.  Once the door was looked and they were nearly to his car she added, “I hope you don’t mind, but I picked up the tickets earlier.”

Gus paused with his hand on the open passenger door.  “But I asked you out…It doesn’t seem right for you to have…”

“Don’t worry about it.  Besides, I changed my mind about wanting to see the comedy we agreed on.”

“Oh?”  Was that a look of apprehension on his face?

“I forgot the movie about the evil bank conspiracy was opening tonight.”  Scarlett moved passed him into the car.  “I work for Visa so I’m always up for an evil bank movie.”

Once they were on the road, Gus frowned over at her.  “I still wish you’d let me pay for the tickets.”

“Guess you’ll have to provide the munchies then, huh?”

“Of course.”  His knuckles tightened ever so slightly on the steering wheel.  “A gentleman would never ask you to be the munchies.”

“Do you mean to buy the munchies?”

“Of course.”  He flashed her a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.  “What else could I have meant?”

Scarlett bit the inside of her lip to keep from saying anything else.  What else indeed?

Will Scarlett’s new suspicion of Gus get in the way of the evil bank movie? Will Gus make it through the movie without a snack?

Find out when the saga continues on Your Dark Passenger!

I forgot to add… “those” guys do suck, don’t they? They’ll suck the freaking sanity right out of ya. But only if you let them :D

I think her status as a snack might depend on how long the movie is. Her chances are better in an 80 minute flick than Titanic. ;)

Huh. Is that where my sanity went? I’ve been wondering. I thought I left it under the bed at your house. Actually, can you check and see if Jinx found my sanity and put it somewhere for safe keeping?

I can ask him. I think he likes you more so he might not tell me. He thinks it’s funny when you’re insane :D
